The humanitarian center "Hospitable Hut"
The humanitarian center "Hospitable Hut" has been operating since March 26, 2022. On a permanent basis, 6 days a week, 87 volunteers work here, 64 of whom are refugees from Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Melitopol, Izyum and other cities affected by Russian aggression.
At first, they turned to our center for help, and later stayed to work in our team as volunteers. The oldest volunteer is 72 years old, and the youngest one is 14.
Every day, we serve more than 500 families of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 150 families of Odesa residents. Our center provides all destitute people with everything they need: food products, personal hygiene products and household chemicals, clothing, tableware, children toys, medicines, and advisory and psychological assistance services.
Also, every day we distribute food kits among pensioners, disabled people and other people of Odesa who need our support.
The goal of our volunteer center is to help IDPs families to adapt to a new life as a consequence of migration, provide them with full-fledged support and support them with everything they need until they find a stable job and can take a good care of themselves. Our center is functioning thanks to the support of umpteen partners who help us in our humanitarian mission.
History of the "Hospitable Hut"
Starting from the end of 2021, the coordinators of the "Hospitable Hut" volunteer project began to provide assistance to the regional headquarters of the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, in cooperation with volunteers, Odesa residents, city authorities and representatives of local businesses, we supported Territorial Defense Forces and some structures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with humanitarian support. In order to improve logistics processes and distribute more humanitarian aid, the Humanitarian Volunteer Center was opened on the territory of the Odesa Food Market on March 1.
On March 26, with the support of the Odesa municipality, a center for assistance to displaced persons and internally displaced persons was opened on the territory of the School #117, which grew into a full-fledged volunteer project "Hospitable Hut". Since then, all our efforts have been directed to the support and development of the "Hospitable Hut" project, whose mission is to provide timely assistance to all who need it.
